PureStar acquires Emerald Textiles, expands into healthcare laundry services

PureStar, a national provider of hospitality laundry services in the United States, has acquired Emerald Textiles, a major linen services company serving the healthcare sector on the West Coast. The move brings together two established operators and creates one of the largest commercial laundry service platforms in the country, serving both hospitality and healthcare customers.
Emerald Textiles is widely known for its work with hospitals and healthcare systems. The company operates 12 laundry facilities and three depots across the West Coast, supplying what are often mission-critical linen services in highly regulated environments. As the second-largest healthcare laundry provider in the U.S., Emerald has built its reputation on service reliability, quality control, and compliance standards required by healthcare customers.
PureStar, on the other hand, has long focused on the hospitality market. With more than a century of combined experience across its brands, the company operates 41 facilities nationwide under 15 regional brands. Hotels, resorts, and hospitality groups rely on PureStar for consistent and large-scale linen processing. By acquiring Emerald, PureStar adds healthcare as a core business segment, broadening its reach beyond hospitality for the first time.
Together, the two companies will run one of the largest commercial laundry networks in the United States. The combined platform offers wider geographic coverage, more operational backup across regions, and additional capacity to support customers as their needs grow. For clients, this means stronger continuity of service and access to a provider with experience across two demanding end markets.
Brian Herington, Chief Executive Officer of PureStar, said Emerald brings valuable expertise to the group. He noted that Emerald’s experience in healthcare laundry adds depth to PureStar’s existing operations and allows the combined company to share best practices across its facilities. Herington also pointed to continued investment in employees, plants, and systems as a key focus following the acquisition.
From Emerald’s perspective, the deal provides scale and long-term support. Andy Kratky, CEO of Emerald Textiles, said the company is proud of the trust it has built with healthcare customers over the years. Joining PureStar’s national network, he explained, gives Emerald access to greater resources while allowing it to continue serving hospitals in its current markets and expand into new ones.
The transaction is also supported by Cornell Capital, which backs PureStar. Emily Pollack, Partner at Cornell Capital, described the acquisition as a key step in building a diversified essential services platform. She highlighted Emerald’s management team and operating culture, noting that both companies share similar approaches to service quality and long-term growth. By combining hospitality and healthcare laundry services under one platform, Cornell Capital sees opportunities for steady expansion across sectors that rely on dependable, large-scale operations.
Jefferies LLC acted as buy-side financial advisor to PureStar and Cornell Capital, while Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP served as legal counsel. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
With this acquisition, PureStar moves beyond its traditional hospitality base and positions itself as a national commercial laundry provider with a broader service offering. For both companies, the deal reflects a shared focus on scale, reliability, and meeting the evolving needs of customers in industries where consistent linen service is essential to daily operations.
