The Textile PRO Forum convened in Prague for its third plenary meeting of 2025, uniting 34 delegates from 23 organisations across Europe. Co-organised by EURATEX and ATOK, the meeting underscored the Forum’s central role in guiding effective Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) implementation within the textile sector.
Over the course of two days, participants discussed key policy developments, including updates to the Waste Framework Directive, Circular Economy Act, and Waste Shipment Regulation. The meeting also focused on the ongoing work of the Forum’s five active workstreams, reflecting on both successes and challenges encountered across Europe’s textile sector.
National updates revealed operational achievements in textile waste management, alongside the hurdles that still remain. As Europe moves closer to mandatory separate collection of textile waste and the implementation of EPR schemes, there is a strong push for harmonisation. The Forum continues to support these efforts, aiming to simplify administrative processes and align with broader EU goals for a circular economy.
As the textile industry prepares for significant regulatory shifts, the Forum’s efforts remain crucial for ensuring smooth transitions and helping the sector meet evolving sustainability standards.
