Samsara Eco and EOG launch Nylon Materials Collective to support circular economy in outdoor industry

Samsara Eco, a leader in sustainable textile solutions, has partnered with the European Outdoor Group (EOG) to introduce the Nylon Materials Collective. This new initiative aims to make high-performance, recycled nylon more accessible for outdoor brands, helping them shift toward a circular textile future.
The outdoor industry has long favored nylon for its durability, strength, and ability to withstand harsh weather conditions. However, the production of virgin nylon has significant environmental impacts. By pooling resources and demand, the Nylon Materials Collective offers outdoor brands the opportunity to access recycled nylon that matches the quality of virgin materials—without the environmental cost.
“The outdoor industry has a deep respect for the planet,” said Sarah Cook, Chief Commercial Officer at Samsara Eco. “Brands in this sector understand the need for a circular, low-carbon future, and we want to help make recycled materials more accessible so we can all benefit from this transition.”
The Collective allows brands to purchase recycled nylon through pooled volumes, helping smaller companies or those with lower material requirements access these sustainable materials. This collective approach reduces logistical barriers and accelerates the integration of recycled materials into product lines, making the process simpler for all involved.
Samsara Eco uses its EosEco enzymatic recycling technology to create materials like nylon 6,6, which perform just like virgin nylon. This process helps companies meet EU Circular Economy regulations, such as Extended Producer Responsibility and minimum recycled content mandates, while still maintaining the high standards of their products.
Katy Stevens, Head of Sustainability and CSR at EOG, highlighted the collective nature of the initiative: “At EOG, collaboration is key. The Nylon Materials Collective provides a platform for our members to work together, unlock access to recycled nylon, and accelerate the transition to circular materials.”
With approximately 150 brands, retailers, and organizations across the outdoor sector, the EOG is dedicated to supporting sustainable practices that benefit the environment. The launch of the Nylon Materials Collective is a step toward making circularity the norm in outdoor gear manufacturing.
The partnership between Samsara Eco and the EOG represents a significant move toward a more sustainable outdoor industry. By offering recycled nylon materials that don’t compromise on performance, durability, or quality, the initiative shows that it’s possible to balance sustainability with high standards.
The Nylon Materials Collective will officially launch before the EOG’s participation at ISPO Munich 2025, where Samsara Eco will present samples of its recycled nylon materials. The initiative is open to all EOG members, signaling a collaborative effort to support a more sustainable and circular future for the outdoor industry.
