Recyc’Elit has officially opened its pre-industrial demonstrator for chemical textile recycling, marking a practical step forward in Europe’s circular textile efforts. The inauguration, held on October 3, brought together over 100 attendees, including representatives from Refashion, Decathlon, and the ReHubs community.
Robert van de Kerkhof, CEO of ReHubs, attended the event and emphasized the role of shared values and collaboration in driving progress. “Recyc’Elit shows that the key to progress is the people,” he said. “With a strong team built on shared values, they have turned barriers into opportunities.”
The facility aims to address one of the textile industry’s most persistent challenges: post-consumer waste. By advancing chemical recycling at a pre-industrial scale, Recyc’Elit is testing viable solutions that could be scaled across European markets. The demonstrator is designed to process mixed fiber waste, a category often excluded from mechanical recycling streams.
This initiative aligns with ReHubs’ broader strategy to accelerate circularity through regional hubs and industrial partnerships. The presence of major stakeholders at the launch signals growing interest in scalable recycling infrastructure and cross-sector collaboration.
Recyc’Elit’s approach combines technical feasibility with community engagement, offering a model that other regions may look to replicate.
