Hyosung TNC’s sustainable fibre solutions at the 2025 Textile Exchange Conference

The 2025 Textile Exchange Conference, held in Lisbon, Portugal from October 14-17, will bring together brands, supply chain partners, innovators, farmers, non-profit organizations, and academics to discuss the changing landscape of the textile industry. One of the key players, Hyosung TNC, will be showcasing its sustainable fibre solutions as part of the event, with a special focus on its regen™ range of recycled, bio-based, and textile-to-textile fibre solutions.

Hyosung TNC, a global leader in sustainable textile solutions and a Textile Exchange Partner-level Member, aims to help value chain partners meet their environmental goals. Simon Whitmarsh-Knight, the company’s global sustainability director, shares insights into the sustainable fibre solutions that will be presented at the conference.

Highlighting the regen™ BIO Elastane Range

One of the key products Hyosung TNC will showcase is its expanded regen™ BIO Elastane range. This elastane, partly made from renewable content, has a lower carbon footprint without compromising performance. The fibre’s feedstock is transitioning from corn to sugarcane, which significantly reduces carbon emissions.

Hyosung has partnered with Geno, a sustainable materials leader, to produce Bio-BDO from sugarcane at their Vietnam plant. This collaboration could produce up to 50,000 tons of bio-BDO by the end of 2026. For the first time, the industry will have access to bio-based elastane in one region, from raw material to fibre, enabling faster market delivery, shorter development times, and a stronger supply chain for partners.

Certifications for regen™ BIO Elastane

Hyosung’s regen™ BIO Elastane will be certified with SGS EEPS certification, ensuring that it meets high environmental and sustainability standards. The company is also exploring other certifications and has joined the VIVE verification Programme by CZ to ensure full traceability and transparency from sugarcane farms to fibre production.

Advancing Textile-to-Textile Recycled Solutions

Hyosung has also made significant strides in textile-to-textile recycling. The company recently formed a strategic alliance with Loop Industries to enhance access to circular polyester. Loop’s Infinite Loop™ depolymerization technology helps Hyosung convert low-value textile waste into high-quality polyester resin. This resin, branded as Twist™, is fully traceable and recycled, offering virgin-quality performance with a significantly reduced environmental impact.

Hyosung converts this recycled material into performance yarns under the regen™ brand, which is trusted by leading brands in fashion, activewear, and other textile sectors.

Hyosung’s Unique Position in the Market

As the textile industry explores various sustainability pathways—be it recycled, bio-based, or textile-to-textile—Hyosung stands out for its ability to offer a wide range of sustainable solutions across elastane, nylon, and polyester fibres. With its global manufacturing presence, Hyosung provides customers with flexibility in a dynamic sourcing environment, making it an ideal partner for brands seeking sustainable alternatives.

By showcasing these sustainable solutions at the 2025 Textile Exchange Conference, Hyosung TNC continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting brands and supply chain partners in achieving their sustainability goals while driving positive change across the textile industry.
