Enhancing activated carbon systems for better performance and consistency

Nonwovenn, a leader in advanced fabric solutions, has made significant strides in improving its activated carbon (AC) systems. The company’s latest updates focus on refining how AC is incorporated into fabric structures, improving accessibility, and optimizing its exposure. These efforts have led to notable advancements in adsorption efficiency, product consistency, and service life.

By upgrading key elements of its production process, Nonwovenn has enhanced bonding and lamination techniques, as well as fine-tuning the distribution of AC and fibers within the fabric. The company has also made improvements to the overall layer architecture of its products, aiming to reduce waste and make production more scalable and robust.

According to Dr. Ross Ward, CarbonTech Business Director at Nonwovenn, these refinements are helping to create more effective and stable AC systems within fabric structures. “We are continually developing new ways to make our activated carbon systems more accessible and effective,” Dr. Ward explained. “By refining how AC is incorporated and exposed within our fabric structures, we are seeing measurable improvements in both performance and process stability, which translates into stronger customer value and product competitiveness.”

These improvements also offer a range of benefits for Nonwovenn’s customers. The company’s updated AC systems feature better carbon utilization, enhanced manufacturing processability, and consistent carbon containment. Customers also gain more flexible construction options that meet the latest standards in personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical devices.

“Our customers will benefit from improved carbon utilization, enhanced manufacturing processability, consistent carbon containment, flexible construction options, and clear alignment with current PPE and medical standards,” Dr. Ward added. “These developments help reinforce our customer-first approach, as we are always looking for ways to improve our products.”

Nonwovenn’s AC-enabled mask fabrics are designed to meet critical regulatory requirements such as EN 149 under the European PPE Regulation, as well as medical device standards. The company’s certified products ensure consistent protection and traceability for use in occupational and clinical settings.

In addition to its core AC-enabled masks, Nonwovenn continues to expand its offerings. The company has also introduced new fabric options focused on comfort, odor control, and protection against volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These enhancements are supported by new additive and catalyst technologies, broadening the range of substances the fabrics can absorb.

With these updates, Nonwovenn remains committed to providing high-performance, reliable fabric solutions for a variety of industries, from healthcare to industrial protection.
