The Just Style Excellence Awards, powered by GlobalData, highlight the most impactful innovations in the apparel and textile industry. Reju was recognized for offering a scalable solution to a pressing challenge: turning post-consumer textile waste into a valuable resource.
The company addresses the global issue of textile waste, with over 92 million tons generated every year. Currently, less than 1% of this waste is recycled. Reju’s proprietary process converts post-consumer and post-industrial textile waste into Reju Polyester, a high-performance material that has 50% lower carbon emissions compared to virgin polyester. This closed-loop system allows for the infinite regeneration of polyester without quality loss, reducing the industry’s reliance on new, virgin materials.
A key part of Reju’s operation is Regeneration Hub Zero, its first textile regeneration demonstration plant located in Frankfurt, Germany. Completed within a year of the company’s formation, the hub integrates technology developed by IBM Research and advanced by Technip Energies, a global leader in engineering. This plant serves as a model for future global sites, setting a new standard for circular infrastructure in the textile industry.
