Monforts advances coating and drying solutions for technical textiles ahead of Techtextil 2026
Monforts has expanded its coating and drying technologies in recent years, focusing on flexibility, precision and energy efficiency for technical textile production. The company’s MontexCoat, coaTTex and VertiDry systems are designed to support a wide range of coating applications while maintaining consistent product quality.
Specialists from Monforts will present these solutions at Techtextil 2026, scheduled to take place from April 21–24 in Frankfurt. During the exhibition, the company will discuss how its coating and drying technologies help manufacturers add functional properties and improve the performance of textile substrates.
Wide range of applications
Coated technical textiles are used across many industries. In outdoor and architectural products such as tents, awnings, sailcloth and blackout blinds, coatings provide properties including water resistance, dimensional stability, opacity and protection against weather conditions.
Transport interiors represent another major application area. Automotive upholstery and interior fabrics often require coatings that improve abrasion resistance, stain protection and tactile comfort. Manufacturers in this sector also demand high process consistency. To address this, Monforts enables digitally stored coating recipes that can be reloaded to reproduce identical results across production batches.
Beyond consumer applications, coatings also play a role in industrial materials. Monforts systems are used to process high-temperature filter media, flame-retardant barrier fabrics and membranes used in biogas storage systems.

MontexCoat system
The MontexCoat unit is designed to serve a broad range of markets. It supports full PVC coatings, pigment dyeing, solvent coatings and surface treatments with controlled penetration.
The system accommodates several application methods including knife coating, roller coating and screen printing. This flexibility allows manufacturers to handle different materials and coating requirements on the same line.
MontexCoat also supports efficient changeovers between production runs, helping manufacturers reduce material waste and maintain efficient energy use.
coaTTex coating unit
The coaTTex system focuses on air knife and knife-over-roller coating processes. It is designed for single-sided coating with paste or foam and can add functions such as waterproofing, liquid and gas protection, and breathability.
Both MontexCoat and coaTTex units can be integrated into existing finishing lines or installed in new Monforts systems, including the company’s MONTEX stenter ranges.
VertiDry convection dryer
VertiDry is a contactless convection dryer developed to complement coating units. The system is designed to optimize energy use while ensuring uniform drying.
It can be positioned before or after a stenter frame depending on the application. This allows it to pre-dry sensitive fabrics or dry coated materials such as airbags, denim fabrics and glass-fiber substrates.
Other applications include finishing sportswear, outerwear, carpets, geotextiles and tarpaulins.
Long experience in technical textile finishing
Monforts machines have been produced for more than four decades at Montex Maschinenfabrik in St. Stefan, Austria. While the company continues to manufacture standardized machines, it increasingly develops customized solutions tailored to the specific needs of technical textile producers.
According to Monforts Marketing Manager Nicole Croonenbroek, the company’s MONTEX stenters and THERMEX dyeing systems remain widely used in the technical textile sector due to their production efficiency, energy performance and long service life. Interest in Monforts coating technologies is also growing as manufacturers look to add more functionality to their textile products.
