KARL MAYER strengthens its focus on core textile technologies
KARL MAYER is reinforcing its commitment to warp knitting, warp preparation and technical textiles as it continues to advance textile development. The company will present the results of this focused strategy at Techtextil, taking place April 21–24 in Frankfurt.
At Messe Frankfurt, visitors will find KARL MAYER in Hall 12.0, Booth B79. The exhibit is designed to highlight practical textile developments, production efficiency and opportunities for business expansion. Technical specialists will be available throughout the show to discuss applications, processes and potential new markets.
Alongside its Techtextil presence, KARL MAYER will open a new Textile Innovation Center in nearby Obertshausen. During the opening week, trade show visitors are invited to tour the facility, which serves as a central site for textile development, testing and collaboration.
Expanding applications in technical textiles
Technical warp knitting remains a strong area of growth for the company. Hollow-fiber mats produced on KARL MAYER warp knitting machines with weft insertion feature permeable surfaces designed for demanding applications. These structures are already being explored for medical uses such as oxygenating blood outside the body, as well as for industrial processes including filtration, ink removal from printer cartridges and beverage carbonation.
Live production of these hollow-fiber warp knits will be demonstrated at the Textile Innovation Center, where visitors can observe machine performance and fabric formation in real time.
Reinforcement fabrics made on KARL MAYER multiaxial machines will also be presented at the booth. These textiles are designed to support emerging technical applications that require controlled strength, stability and material efficiency.
Functional textiles and footwear solutions
Functional apparel will be another key theme. KARL MAYER will present fabrics developed for defense, workwear and sun protection, including outdoor textiles that have undergone UV protection testing. The test results will be shared during the exhibition, offering insight into material performance under real-use conditions.
The exhibit will also include a selection of leisure and athletic footwear, demonstrating how warp knitting technology supports flexible design while maintaining comfort, durability and safety in performance shoe fabrics.
Warp preparation and process integration
A dedicated presentation will cover warp preparation, an area where KARL MAYER positions itself as the only full-range supplier. According to the company, this capability allows closer integration between yarn preparation and fabric production, supporting more consistent quality and process control.

The Textile Innovation Center in Obertshausen provides visitors with access to both archival textile solutions and current development projects. The facility includes a modern machine area designed for prototyping, testing and process optimization, offering a practical environment for advancing textile concepts from idea to application.
