Heimtextil International Fair 2026 begins in Frankfurt

The Heimtextil International Fair 2026 opened today in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, at the Messe Frankfurt exhibition grounds. The event runs January 13 through 16, 2026 and brings together businesses, designers, buyers, and textile professionals from around the world.

Heimtextil is a global trade fair dedicated to home and contract textiles. At this edition, the fair serves as a meeting point for companies involved in furnishing fabrics, interior textiles, bedding products, carpets and rugs, and related textile materials. Exhibitors and visitors can explore a wide range of products and design trends across many industry segments.

A Bigger, Smarter Event Layout

This year’s fair uses a newly optimised hall layout that groups related product areas so visitors can find what they need more easily and explore a broad range of products. The plan cuts down walking time between categories and creates neighbourhoods of connected offerings.

For example:

Halls 3.0, 3.1 and 4.1 focus on interior design textiles such as upholstery fabrics, wall coverings, wallpapers and sun-protection solutions. These halls also house design installations including work by renowned designer Patricia Urquiola.

Hall 4.0 serves as the centre of Smart Bedding and sleep system discussions, with a specialised Sleep & Meet area dedicated to bedding, mattresses and hospitality sector buyers.

Halls 5.0 through 6.1 show finished textiles for bed, bath and living from linens to decorative accessories alongside the Trend Arena and design studios.

Halls 8.0 to 10.3 host the Global Home and Global Home Excellence sourcing platforms where international manufacturers and country pavilions build connections with interior professionals.

Halls 11.0 and 12.0 are dedicated to Carpets & Rugs and Flooring & Equipment, including non-textile flooring options such as cork, wood, and vinyl, newly introduced in 2026.

This layout aims to deliver a holistic visit experience that supports both discovery and business dialogue.

Exhibitors and Global Participation

Heimtextil 2026 gathers over 3,100 exhibitors from 65+ countries showing a wide array of textile products, raw materials, and interior solutions. The diversity of participants makes it a go-to platform for sourcing everything from traditional fabrics and yarns to contemporary finished products suited for residential, hospitality, and contract interiors.

The presence of international clusters for example, a strong representation of Spanish textile firms with municipal support highlights how countries use the fair to promote regional capabilities and enter new export markets.

Design, Trends and Industry Dialogue

One of the core attractions is the Heimtextil Trends 26/27, curated in partnership with Alcova Milano, now showcased in Hall 6.1. The trend presentations explore six thematic directions under the title “Craft is a verb.” These insights emphasise how handcraft and digital tools like AI intersect in textile design, for example, technology-generated colour plays, digitally reworked hand arts, or blends of natural and machine aesthetics.

Alongside trend forecasts, the fair’s event programme includes talks, tours and special shows. Themes range from sustainability practices and circular-economy materials to design techniques suited for retail and contract settings.

A notable installation by Urquiola called “among-all” invites visitors to experience how design can combine spatial concepts with functional textiles across residential, retail and hospitality environments.
