Unifi reaches 1 billion T-shirts milestone in FY2025 Sustainability Snapshot

Unifi Inc., the maker of REPREVE, has released its FY2025 Sustainability Snapshot, outlining progress in recycled and circular materials and setting new targets for 2030.
The latest update marks a major milestone for the company. Through the REPREVE platform, Unifi has now transformed the equivalent of 1 billion T-shirts’ worth of textile and yarn waste. The figure includes materials processed through REPREVE Takeback™, ThermaLoop™ Insulation, REPREVE ReCirculate™, and REPREVE Nylon.
The company says the growth continued after it introduced globally available circular polyester products made from textile waste earlier in the fiscal year. These products include insulation and white filament offerings designed to help brands integrate recycled content into mainstream applications.
New 2030 goal for plastic bottle recycling
Alongside its existing targets, Unifi announced a new goal to recycle 65 billion plastic bottles by FY2030. To date, the company has diverted 46 billion bottles from landfills.
This new bottle target complements its earlier FY2030 commitment to transform the equivalent of 1.5 billion T-shirts’ worth of textile and yarn waste. With 1 billion already achieved, the company reports it is on track toward that objective.
REPREVE accounted for 31 percent of Unifi’s FY2025 revenue. The company is aiming for the platform to contribute more than 50 percent of total revenue by FY2030, reflecting growing demand for recycled and circular materials across apparel, footwear, home textiles, and industrial applications.
Reducing environmental impact across operations
The Snapshot shows continued reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, water consumption, and raw material inputs. Unifi also reported zero noncompliant water discharges across local municipalities and in line with national regulations.
The company’s sustainability disclosures are guided by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) frameworks, unless otherwise noted.
Eddie Ingle, CEO of Unifi, described the publication as a reflection of the company’s long-term commitment to “Waste Nothing.” He said the company’s progress is tied to ongoing product development and the expansion of recycled and circular offerings across global markets.
Industry recognition
In FY2025, Unifi was named one of Fast Company’s “World’s Most Innovative Companies of 2025” in the Fashion and Apparel category. The recognition highlights the company’s work in advancing recycled fiber technologies and scaling circular manufacturing solutions.
The FY2025 Sustainability Snapshot reinforces Unifi’s focus on supporting global brands that are working to meet their circularity and sustainable materials goals.
