Indie label Sister Jane launches repair studio to promote circular fashion

Fashion is no longer just about buying new things, but also about repurposing old favourites. And London-based womenswear brand Sister Jane has turned this idea into reality. They recently opened the “Repair Studio” at the Notting Hill Townhouse store.

This innovation aims to extend the lifespan of clothing and combat the growing ‘disposable culture’ in the fashion world, which is an important step towards promoting circularity and sustainability in fashion. The new studio will offer free services such as fixing loose seams, replacing missing buttons, or other minor restorations on garments purchased directly from Sister Jane over the past 14 years.

Additionally, customizations such as length or fit changes are possible for new garments for a small fee. All repairs and alterations can be done in-house by the brand’s expert team. Enrico Giglio, the brand’s founder, said, “The clothes we make are not only beautiful, but they become a part of our customers’ lives for many years. Our responsibility is to give longevity to both those memories and the clothes. With this new initiative, we want to reduce waste and encourage sustainable clothing use.”

Sister Jane prioritizes reuse as a core part of sustainable fashion practices. The studio is run by the brand’s own team of experts, which launches in conjunction with the new collection “No Place Like Home”.
