High-level recognition for EURATEX: a strategic step toward a skilled, sustainable future

The European Apparel and Textile Confederation (EURATEX) has been officially welcomed as a new member of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA), marking a pivotal milestone in the Confederation’s commitment to strengthening Europe’s skills ecosystem. The announcement came during the high-profile event Apprenticeships for the Union of Skills and the Clean Industrial Deal held in Brussels, gathering policymakers, industry leaders, and education stakeholders from across the continent.

The formal induction took place in a distinguished signing ceremony hosted by European Commissioner Roxana Minzatu, Executive Vice President for Social Rights and Skills. Commissioner Minzatu personally awarded the membership certificates to the new EAfA partners, underlining the EU’s strategic focus on fostering quality apprenticeships as a cornerstone of its social and industrial policies.

A Vital Partnership for a Changing Industry

EURATEX’s inclusion in the EAfA comes at a time when the textile and clothing industries are undergoing rapid transformation driven by sustainability goals, digitalization, and global shifts in labor markets. By joining the Alliance, EURATEX aligns itself with a broader European strategy that seeks to place apprenticeships at the heart of workforce development and industrial renewal.

The EAfA, launched by the European Commission, brings together governments, businesses, chambers of commerce, vocational education institutions, and other stakeholders to promote high-quality apprenticeship schemes. EURATEX’s membership is expected to further catalyze collaboration and innovation in skills training, particularly in sectors where traditional know-how intersects with cutting-edge technologies.

A Strong Signal to Europe’s Youth

For Europe’s younger generations entering the job market, EURATEX’s partnership with EAfA sends a clear and inspiring message: careers in textiles and fashion are not only viable but are evolving into dynamic, high-skilled professions aligned with Europe’s green and digital transitions.

As EURATEX integrates further into the Alliance’s initiatives, the Confederation’s influence in shaping training curricula, advancing gender equality in industry, and promoting cross-border apprenticeship opportunities is set to expand significantly.
