The Fair Labor Association (FLA) has released a new toolkit designed to help companies build and run effective grievance systems across global supply chains. The resource gives businesses step-by-step guidance on how to set up, operate, and measure grievance mechanisms that promote worker voice and address labor rights concerns.
The toolkit lays out focus areas, common hurdles, and practical ways forward. It includes case studies, examples from the field, and direct quotes that show how grievance systems can succeed when applied properly.
“Grievance mechanisms are critical not only to protecting workers, but also to safeguarding a company’s reputation with consumers and investors,” said Jeff Vockrodt, FLA President and CEO. He noted that many brands and suppliers struggle to put these systems into practice. “Our new toolkit will help companies establish grievance processes that demonstrate that labor rights concerns are taken seriously and resolved quickly.”
The FLA is an international network of companies, universities, and civil society groups. Its mission is to promote human rights at work by ensuring that millions of people in factories and farms worldwide are paid fairly and protected from health and safety risks.
This new toolkit is the latest step in FLA’s effort to strengthen workplace accountability and give workers clear, reliable channels to raise concerns.
