Looptworks earns global recycled standard certification

Looptworks has earned Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, a widely recognized benchmark for recycled materials and supply chain transparency. The certification took effect in December 2025 and confirms that Looptworks meets established requirements for recycled content, traceability, and responsible production practices.

GRS is administered by Textile Exchange, a nonprofit organization that develops global standards for sustainable materials. The standard verifies recycled inputs from the original feedstock through each stage of processing to the final product. Certified companies are also assessed against environmental management, chemical use, and social responsibility criteria through independent, third-party audits.

For brands and supply chain partners, GRS certification provides assurance that recycled fibers meet verified sustainability requirements and that material traceability is maintained throughout the process.

What GRS Certification Means for Looptworks

Achieving GRS certification marks an important step for Looptworks and the partners that use its recycled fiber solutions. The certification confirms several key aspects of the company’s operations:

  • Verified recycled content
GRS confirms that the fibers produced by Looptworks meet internationally recognized definitions for recycled materials.
  • End-to-end traceability
Certified materials can be tracked from reclaimed textile feedstock through processing and into finished recycled fiber.
  • Environmental and social oversight
The audit process reviews chemical management, environmental practices, and social responsibility within certified operations.
  • Clear claims for brands
Brands working with Looptworks can use GRS-verified materials and make substantiated recycled content claims in their products and reporting.

Scott Hamlin, co-founder and CEO of Looptworks, said the certification gives partners added confidence in the company’s recycling system and the recycled fibers it supplies.

Validating a Circular Textile System

Looptworks operates a fully circular textile recycling system in the United States, designed to process a wide range of pre- and post-consumer textile waste and convert it into recycled fibers. The GRS certification involved a detailed review of the company’s facilities, processes, and documentation to confirm alignment with global standards.

The company welcomed the audit process as a way to strengthen transparency and build trust across the value chain, from manufacturers and brands to sustainability teams and end consumers.

Supporting Circularity at Scale

With GRS certification in place, Looptworks is positioned to support broader adoption of recycled fibers across apparel, accessories, and other applications. The certification helps the company:

  • Support brand partners with verified recycled supply chains
  • Contribute to credible sustainability and ESG reporting
  • Reduce reliance on virgin materials
  • Divert more textile waste from landfill and incineration

GRS certification reinforces Looptworks’ role as a reliable partner for organizations working to integrate measurable circular practices into their products and operations.
