bluesign appoints Hanane Taidi as CEO to advance global sustainability and compliance in the textile industry

bluesign, an SGS company and a globally recognized provider of sustainable textile solutions, has appointed Hanane Taidi as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment comes at a significant time for the textile and apparel industry, as companies face increasing regulatory requirements, higher expectations for transparency, and growing demand for verified sustainability data.

With more than 25 years of industry leadership, bluesign has built a strong reputation for helping textile manufacturers, brands, and chemical suppliers reduce environmental impacts while meeting strict safety and sustainability standards across the value chain. As global regulations continue to reshape the industry, the organization is expanding its role beyond certification by supporting companies with practical compliance strategies, verified data, and measurable implementation.

Hanane Taidi brings extensive global leadership experience

Hanane Taidi joins bluesign with more than two decades of international leadership experience spanning sustainability, public affairs, regulatory affairs, and strategic communications.

Prior to joining bluesign, she served as Director General of TIC Council, the global association representing the testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) industry. During her tenure, Taidi led strategic initiatives across Europe, the United States, China, and India while successfully bringing together two major international organizations into a unified global body. Her leadership strengthened the sector’s influence in shaping sustainability and regulatory policies worldwide.

Since 2014, Taidi has also served as an expert for the European Commission, providing her with extensive insight into evolving environmental and sustainability regulations.

Strengthening bluesign’s role in regulatory compliance

Taidi’s appointment reflects bluesign’s growing role within the global testing, inspection, and certification ecosystem. As textile manufacturers prepare for regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the need for credible environmental data and transparent supply chain verification continues to increase.

Through its system-based approach, bluesign connects brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and chemical producers across the textile value chain, enabling independent verification and continuous environmental performance improvement.

Focus on scalable sustainability solutions

As CEO, Taidi will focus on expanding bluesign’s impact by strengthening the organization’s position as a trusted partner for responsible production and regulatory compliance.

Her strategic priorities include:

  • Expanding access to verified sustainability data across every tier of textile manufacturing.
  • Strengthening collaboration throughout the bluesign System Partner network.
  • Supporting brands and manufacturers in implementing complex sustainability regulations through practical, operational solutions.
  • Scaling the organization’s system-based approach to responsible textile production globally.

Rather than simply meeting compliance requirements, bluesign aims to help companies integrate sustainability into everyday manufacturing practices through transparent, science-based systems.

Leadership perspective

bluesign has built a powerful foundation rooted in science and trust,” said Hanane Taidi, CEO of bluesign.

“The opportunity ahead is to scale that impact, giving the industry the tools, data, and systems needed to turn responsibility into measurable progress.”

Building on a strong sustainability foundation

Since its establishment, bluesign has adopted a comprehensive approach to sustainable textile production, evaluating every stage of manufacturing—from chemical inputs and raw materials to finished textile products. The system promotes continuous improvement by reducing environmental impacts, enhancing worker safety, and improving resource efficiency throughout the supply chain.

Under Taidi’s leadership, bluesign plans to build on this foundation while helping industry partners address rising expectations for transparency, accountability, and verified environmental performance in an increasingly regulated global market.

As sustainability reporting requirements continue to evolve and brands seek greater visibility across their supply chains, bluesign’s integrated approach is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting responsible textile production worldwide.
