Deloitte partners with Global Fashion Agenda to launch the Fashion Impact Toolkit

Deloitte has launched the Fashion Impact Toolkit, a new resource designed to help fashion companies assess and reduce their environmental and social impacts. Developed in collaboration with the Global Fashion Agenda, the toolkit provides businesses with valuable data and insights to incorporate sustainability into their strategies.

The Fashion Impact Toolkit focuses on nearly 3,000 potential impacts across the textile value chain, from material production to garment manufacturing, distribution, and end-of-life management. By using the toolkit, companies can pinpoint key areas to improve sustainability, helping them reduce carbon emissions, minimize waste, and create a more ethical supply chain.

The toolkit’s structure is based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and follows a seven-step process:

  1. Identify the position in the value chain
  2. Generate material- and geography-specific insights
  3. Translate sector-wide impacts into company-specific ones
  4. Quantify the identified impacts
  5. Define risks and opportunities
  6. Shape strategy and ambition
  7. Collaborate for systemic change

This step-by-step framework helps companies navigate the complexities of sustainability, offering a clear path to understanding and managing their environmental footprint. By making this tool available, Deloitte aims to support fashion businesses in driving long-term change across the industry, fostering transparency, and enhancing the industry’s ability to meet sustainability goals.

For the shift toward circularity to succeed, the textile industry should actively manage negative impacts while seizing opportunities for positive impact, unlocking shared value through greater visibility and help drive industry-wide transformation.

The toolkit provides an essential resource for brands looking to stay ahead of regulations and consumer expectations, offering a practical way to track and improve sustainability efforts. Through data-driven insights and collaboration, the Fashion Impact Toolkit aims to promote a more sustainable and transparent fashion industry.
