China has voiced strong disapproval of the increasing politicization of global trade, a stance highlighted by Vice Premier He Lifeng amidst recent tariff threats from Washington. Speaking at the opening of the supply chain expo in Beijing, He Lifeng implicitly criticized the United States without naming any specific nation.
He Lifeng stated,
Currently, some countries, under the guise of risk reduction, are intervening in the market. They are imposing tariffs and enacting restrictive measures and other means to promote the so-called return of manufacturing.

He emphasized China’s opposition to the “artificial politicization and ideologization” of trade matters.
The Vice Premier, who has previously led China’s delegations in tariff negotiations with the US in Geneva and London, stressed that no country truly wins a tariff war. His comments come as global supply chains remain under close scrutiny. This heightened attention began in April, following China’s significant restrictions on rare earth mineral exports. Simultaneously, the US announced tariffs against a number of countries, sparking concerns among international businesses, including German companies, about potential shortages of vital raw materials from China.
