Barmag launches energy efficient POY 2.0 spinning technology for textile industry

Barmag has introduced a spinning technology, POY 2.0, which is designed to make Partially Oriented Yarn (POY) production more advanced, energy-efficient and partially automated. The technology was first demonstrated to industry experts at the ITMA Asia + CITME 2025 exhibition. Yarn manufacturers from various countries present at the exhibition showed interest in the technology and many expressed interest in setting up a pilot plant for testing. POY 2.0 essentially combines advanced engineering, automation and digital integration to increase productivity, reduce waste and improve energy efficiency throughout the entire spinning process.

Optimized DIO Spin Pack

The DIO spin pack is one of the key parts of this technology. Being more compact and efficient than before, the improved design can produce filaments or yarns of more consistent quality. Due to the improved design, about one-third less filter sand is used and the weight of the parts has been reduced by more than 30 percent. This has resulted in reduced raw material consumption. In addition, the improved design of the spinning beam helps save about 10 percent of the machine’s energy.

Improved Process Stability by EvoQuench 2.0

An advanced radial quenching unit called EvoQuench 2.0 plays a key role in cooling the filament evenly in the POY 2.0 system. The convergence length can be easily controlled, which reduces the time it takes to set up the machine and reduces unnecessary waste during production. As a result, the entire process becomes more stable and efficient.

WINGS POY 2.0 Winder Introduces Automated String-Up

The main part of the new and improved spinning line is the WINGS POY 2.0 winding machine, which has been added for the first time with an automatic string-up system. This feature automates the setting of the yarn on the machine, which reduces time and waste. The new quick return system helps change settings quickly for different types of yarn and ensures improved bobbin formation. At the same time, this automated system requires less manpower at the winding stage. A new yarn-end fixation system further enhances process reliability by preventing loose yarn ends that could trigger false sensor signals in automated logistics systems.

Updated Yarn Handling System

The yarn handling system reduces the risk of yarn breakage or looseness. This reduces the chance of sudden machine shutdowns and allows production to run more stably. In addition, additional protection measures in the chuck and bobbin reduce the risk of fluff or excess yarn accumulation, making the entire production process smoother.

Digital Integration with atmos.io

Finally, the modern POY 2.0 system is fully integrated with the digital platform atmos.io. Through this system, operators can digitally monitor the entire production process from polymer to final yarn. Quality control information can be monitored at all times through various apps. As a result, waste in production is reduced, product quality is improved, and manufacturing companies can operate more profitably.
