With nearly 200 years of experience in the textile recycling industry, Tatham remains at the forefront of sustainable solutions. Through recent collaborations, we have expanded our offerings to include a wide range of advanced equipment designed to meet the needs of a changing world. Our latest technologies encompass everything from automated textile sorting to mechanical recycling (rag tearing) and precision fibre blending.
A key element of our sorting technology is its ability to classify garments by colour, material type, and fibre composition. This ensures that even small components, such as zips and buttons, are removed before further processing. This careful approach is critical in addressing the global challenge of textile waste. Despite growing awareness, less than 1% of textile waste is currently recycled back into new textiles.
By focusing on accurate fibre identification, we are taking important steps toward closing the loop in textile production. This process allows recycled materials to be reused in new fabric production, reducing the industry’s reliance on virgin resources and lowering environmental impact.
