Safety Components launches independent testing program for PFZero™ fabrics

Safety Components has announced the start of an independent fluorine chemicals testing program for all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certified fabrics manufactured with its PFZero™ finish. PFZero™ is the first non-fluorinated durable water repellent developed specifically for PPE fabrics. The new program supports the company’s updated PFZero™ Fabric Assurance policy and highlights its focus on transparency, quality, and trust across product lines.

The testing will be based on randomized sampling to ensure swatches represent the full scope of each production lot. Samples will then be sent to accredited third-party laboratories for independent verification using methods capable of detecting fluorine at trace levels.

If any test shows the presence of intentionally added fluorine chemicals, Safety Components will investigate immediately and take corrective action before material is shipped or further lots are produced. The new program will run alongside, but not replace, existing testing required by law, regulation, or customer-specific standards.

Safety Components is dedicated to manufacturing all our NFPA certified fabrics finished with our PFZero™ treatment so that they are free from intentionally added fluorinated chemicals, including C6. “This independent testing program reflects our rigorous quality assurance and our commitment to the health and safety of first responders and the environment.
