ReHubs to develop industry-wide circularity roadmap amid growing textile waste challenges in Europe

ReHubs, a leader in systemic change across the textile and apparel industry, is stepping up its efforts to address the rising challenges of textile waste in Europe. The organization has been a driving force behind transforming the region’s recycling landscape and now plans to develop a circularity roadmap and action plan that aligns stakeholders across the value chain.
The textile industry is facing major shifts, including legislative changes like the new Omnibus package and the anticipated EU Circular Economy Act, set to be introduced in 2026. Alongside these changes, technological innovations and shifting consumer preferences are reshaping how textiles are produced, managed, recycled, and sold throughout Europe.
A significant milestone in this transformation is the introduction of mandatory separate collection systems for used textiles across the European Union, which will take effect on January 1, 2025. This policy is expected to dramatically increase the volume of textiles collected for recycling, creating both new opportunities and challenges for the industry.
In response to these changes, ReHubs is leveraging its extensive network of over 30 partners, including recyclers, technology providers, textile manufacturers, brands, retailers, and investors. By September 2025, ReHubs aims to unveil an industry-wide transformation plan. This plan will prioritize key initiatives, define performance indicators, and outline the steps necessary to scale up textile-to-textile recycling.
Robert van de Kerkhof, CEO of ReHubs, highlighted the importance of this moment in the industry.
The textile and apparel industry stands at a critical crossroads. With changes in legislation and rapid technological advances, we have a unique chance to implement systemic transformation that benefits the environment, the economy, and society. ReHubs is proud to lead this charge by uniting diverse stakeholders around a clear, actionable roadmap.

ReHubs’ circularity roadmap will be developed in consultation with its community of partners and key circularity experts. Gherzi Textil Organisation and ReHubs board advisor Evan Wiener are already involved in the initial planning stages. By working together, ReHubs and its partners aim to build a resilient, circular textile ecosystem capable of addressing today’s challenges and seizing future opportunities.
