Oerlikon Neumag hosts Open House to discuss nonwovens manufacturing innovations

Oerlikon Neumag, in collaboration with eight key partners, held an exclusive event for select customers from the nonwovens industry on July 2 and 3, 2025. The event focused on recent advancements and innovations in the nonwovens manufacturing process. Around 50 attendees gathered at the Neumünster Technology Center to learn more about the latest developments in spunbond and meltblown technologies.
The event featured numerous presentations and live demonstrations, with a special emphasis on Oerlikon Neumag’s patented hydro-charging system, hycuTEC. This system, which has won several awards, enables the manufacturing of charged meltblown media by using water spraying techniques. Attendees were also able to witness the production of meltblown PLA filter media and observe the spunbond processes for producing BiCo PET / CoPET and PP geotextile nonwovens.

A key aspect of the event was the collaboration with eight partner companies, each contributing their expertise to various stages of the nonwovens production process. Weko demonstrated its spin finish applications, while Dilo showcased its machine concepts and innovations in needling technology. Brückner provided insights into thermoprocessing lines for finishing nonwovens, and Mahlo presented its advanced online measurement systems.
Oerlikon Barmag also played a crucial role in the event by offering a closer look at its range of pumps, vital to the nonwovens manufacturing process. Other contributors included TotalEnergies Corbion, which discussed sustainable raw materials and its Luminy® PLA product, and Somatec, which presented solutions related to winding. Comerio Ercole rounded off the presentations with innovations in calender solutions.
The event was well-received by the attendees, with Andreas Frisch and Ingo Mählmann, who manage the business unit, noting that the live demonstrations provided a deeper understanding of the technologies on display. “We don’t want to deliver isolated solutions, but rather ones that are coordinated with our customers and the entire value chain,” said Andreas Frisch.
