The AATCC Foundation is offering financial support for undergraduate and graduate students involved in textile research. The Student Research Support Grant Program aims to assist students with innovative research in textiles, providing funding for projects that align with the foundation’s mission to foster a sustainable and informed future in the textile industry.
Grant Details and Application Process
Students interested in applying for this funding should submit their proposals by October 1, 2025. Applications will be considered for funding in January 2026. The application process is straightforward, requiring a brief online submission that includes a project description and the student’s resume. It is highly recommended that the applicant’s major professor or advisor submits a supporting cover letter. This letter should highlight the importance of the research and the student’s capability to complete the project.
Research Priorities
The AATCC Foundation prioritizes projects focused on developing and evaluating textile test methods, as well as assessing textile performance in real-world situations. Proposals that explore the correlation between these two areas are highly encouraged. Grant amounts range from $500 to $4,000, with an additional allowance of up to $500 available for travel or registration fees if the student wishes to present their research at a technical conference.
Funding Criteria
A panel of academic and industry experts will review all submissions. Past funding recipients have pursued diverse projects, including research into tissue engineering and advancements in digital printing. This diverse range of research demonstrates the foundation’s commitment to supporting a wide spectrum of textile studies.
Project Completion and Reporting
Once the project is completed, the student and their faculty advisor are required to submit a Project Report Form to the AATCC Foundation. The report must be submitted by December 31 of the year in which the research was conducted. This form provides a summary of the research outcomes and insights gained during the project.
Why Apply?
The AATCC Foundation’s mission is to support the next generation of textile researchers and professionals by providing critical funding and exposure. The grants offer an excellent opportunity for students to advance their research projects, gain industry recognition, and contribute to meaningful advancements in the textile industry.
