Mindset Shift becomes key agenda at Circular Textile Day 2025

A lively event, Circular Textile Day (CTD), was held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (1931 Congress Center), Netherlands, on September 10-11, 2025. This event provides positive energy and motivation, bringing together policymakers, innovators and partners who are committed to transforming the textile sector towards sustainability. Its theme was “Transformation of Mindsets”; beyond technology and policy, there is a need to change the way people think about textiles, business models, responsibilities, and laws, and to implement them.
The two-day event focused on integrating Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes in Europe to increase efficiency and scalability. Speakers and participants agreed on this. The emphasis was on transforming circularity into a core business strategy rather than a CSR practice. Topics at the event included the new EU Green Claims Directive, the Digital Product Passport and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). According to experts, policies are certainly necessary, but real change depends on implementation, simplification of structures, and cooperation.
More than 70 organizations, including Patagonia, IKEA, EURATEX (European Apparel and Textile Confederation), EuRIC (European Recycling Industries Confederation), Sympany, Brightfiber, SaXcell, Frankenhuis, MOOT Upcycling, Remake Society, Saxion University, Recover, Valvann, Stichting Sympany, Matoha Purfi, ktex.tracerr, Stichting UPV Textiel, IRE&UP Recycling Technologies, Patagonia, Denim Deal, were present that day. Experts, brand representatives, policymakers and innovators participated in the networking sessions to create a real circular market.

Circular Innovations BV has launched an AI generator that helps brands reduce returns, extend product lifespan and unlock new revenue streams. e.g. forecasting how reducing returns by 1% affects profit and CO₂ savings, mapping out options for repair, resale, etc. Perfi, Fibertrace and EE Label presented advances in fiber-to-fiber recycling technology. Tex.Tracer, Reverse Resources, Matoha and Swatchloop developed tools for digital product passports and traceability. The main goal of this innovation is to simplify processes in the textile supply chain. Teijin Aramid, Brightfiber Textiles, and ERP Netherlands shared how to integrate upcoming EU laws into daily operations.
Circular Textile Day 2025 is an important example of a path forward towards a more circular textile industry. These types of events help bring together experts, brand representatives, policymakers, and innovators, share innovations, and move from ambition to action.
