Barcelona-based fashion giant Mango has partnered with TextileGenesis, a leading traceability platform in the textile and fashion industry, to enhance its sustainability efforts. The collaboration will ensure the traceability of Mango’s natural, synthetic, and cellulosic fibres, as well as leather, throughout the entire supply chain—from the raw material stage to the finished product. This partnership aligns with the company’s broader goal of creating a transparent, digitalized, and more sustainable value chain.
TextileGenesis, a Dutch platform founded in 2018, has been part of Lectra, the French company specializing in equipment for flexible materials, since 2022. The platform uses a ‘fibre-forward’ approach, offering six-dimensional capabilities that allow brands like Mango to verify the authenticity and origin of their materials. This ensures reliable data is available at every stage of production.
Amit Gautam, CEO of TextileGenesis, explains that achieving this level of transparency is a major challenge for brands with complex global supply chains like Mango. He highlights that TextileGenesis provides the tools necessary to offer verifiable, detailed information throughout production, which supports companies in meeting their sustainability targets.
Mango’s collaboration with TextileGenesis also focuses on circularity—addressing growing consumer demands for sustainable and ethical business practices. The partnership has already made significant strides, mapping more than 6,000 tonnes of sustainable fibres and 40 million finished products since its pilot phase in 2023. Over 1,000 supply chain stakeholders across 23 countries have been involved in the initiative.
Mango, founded in 1984 by Isak Andic, has built a strong retail presence, operating in more than 120 markets with over 2,800 stores worldwide. The company reported a turnover of €1.728 billion in the first half of the current financial year, marking a 12% increase from the previous year. Looking ahead, Mango projects a sales target of €4 billion by 2026, alongside plans for 500 additional stores both at home and abroad.
Through this partnership, Mango is not only reinforcing its sustainability goals but also positioning itself as a leader in responsible fashion. By strengthening its supply chain transparency, the brand is taking important steps to meet stricter regulations and growing consumer expectations around sustainability.
