Mango appoints ex H&M CEO Helena Helmersson to Board

Spanish fashion brand Mango has appointed Helena Helmersson, the former CEO of H&M Group, as an independent board member. This move signals the company’s commitment to strengthening its global leadership and corporate governance as part of its 4E Strategic Plan, aimed at professionalizing its executives and aligning with international best practices.

Toni Ruiz, CEO and chairman of Mango, shared his excitement over the appointment, stating that Helmersson’s vast international experience and forward-thinking leadership will be invaluable to the company as it looks to expand globally. “Helena’s vision will be key to helping us grow and develop our business worldwide,” he said.

Helmersson, who led H&M from 2020 to 2024, brings more than 20 years of experience in the fashion industry. Her expertise includes sustainability, global operations, and supply chain management. In addition to her role at Mango, she currently chairs the board of textile innovation company Circulose and holds board positions at Swiss-based On Holding AG and Swedish impact-tech firm Quizrr.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Helmersson said,

I’m excited to join Mango at this exciting time in its journey. The company’s vision for expansion, its focus on product innovation, and its leadership in sustainability are compelling, and I’m looking forward to contributing to its continued development.

Helmersson’s appointment comes as part of a broader leadership reshuffle at Mango. Recently, the retailer promoted Eva Gallego to head its women’s unit, following the departure of veteran executive Elena Carasso. On the men’s side, Josep Estol replaced Jonathan Andic, who left to focus on family business ventures.

Mango’s new board now includes chairman and CEO Toni Ruiz, vice chairman Jonathan Andic, executive directors Margarita Salvans and Daniel López, as well as independent directors Helmersson, Jordi Canals, Jorge Lucaya, Jordi Constans, Marc Puig, and Manel Adell. Eugenia Jover serves as board secretary.
