Heraeus Precious Metals announces first textile brand partnerships for AGXX® Technology
Heraeus Precious Metals has announced its first strategic partnerships with three notable players in the apparel industry: AUX Corporate Fashion, NOMS Global, and Calik Denim. The collaborations mark a pivotal moment for Heraeus’s AGXX® technology, which offers a novel approach to odor control and hygiene in textiles without the environmental drawbacks of conventional biocides.
AGXX® offers a novel approach to managing odor in textiles, especially in high-usage environments such as hospitality, retail, and corporate settings. The technology combats odor at its source by combining two mechanisms: eliminating odor-causing bacteria and oxidizing sweat-derived acids, which are often responsible for persistent smells in clothing.
Unlike conventional antimicrobial treatments that rely on silver ions or biocidal chemicals, AGXX® uses a catalytic reaction involving humidity and oxygen to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS act against microorganisms and neutralize odors—without the use of harmful substances. This process makes AGXX® a forward-looking solution that meets current and anticipated standards of the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).
Safety and environmental compatibility are also central to AGXX®’s appeal. The technology has been awarded the ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX®, an independent certification that verifies its compliance with strict chemical safety and sustainability criteria. This allows textile producers to use the technology with confidence and label their finished goods accordingly.
