Fashion for Good teams Up with Altmat to launch Altag® Fiber Club: scaling Sustainable Fibres

Fashion for Good has announced a strategic partnership with Altmat, a materials science company, to launch the Altag® Fiber Club. This initiative aims to rapidly scale the adoption of next-generation fibres made from agricultural residues, pushing the industry closer to circularity and climate goals.
As the fashion sector grapples with its outsized environmental footprint with materials contributing to 91% of industry emissions and 30% of a product’s cost of goods sold (COGS) replacing conventional fibres with sustainable alternatives has become urgent. However, systemic barriers, such as limited production capacity, premium pricing, and fragmented infrastructure, have slowed commercial adoption.
Altag® Fiber Club: A Scalable Solution to a Systemic Problem
The Altag® Fiber Club is a collaborative framework developed to tackle the deep-rooted challenges hindering material innovation in fashion. By pooling resources and committing to minimum order quantities (MOQs), this model reduces financial risk and creates a stable platform for scaling innovation.
Advancing the Fiber Club with Altmat marks a significant step in scaling innovative materials with real commercial potential. By connecting breakthrough innovators like Altmat with committed brand partners, we’re building the infrastructure and demand needed to bring next-gen materials to market faster and more efficiently.
Katrin Ley, Managing Director at Fashion for Good
Altmat’s flagship innovation, Altag® fibres, are derived from agri-residues converting waste into high-value materials. These fibres offer a regenerative alternative to conventional fibres while integrating seamlessly into existing manufacturing workflows.
There’s no shortage of intent to adopt next-gen materials, but there is a lack of systems to actually make it happen. With the Altag® Fiber Club, we are closing that gap by connecting every link in the value chain, from farm to fibre to fashion.
