Lenzing pushes for scalable circularity at Global Fashion Summit 2025

The Global Fashion Summit: Copenhagen Edition 2025, organized by Global Fashion Agenda, concluded this week with key discussions focused on accelerating sustainability across the fashion and textile industry. Held under the theme โBarriers and Bridges,โ the summit brought together policymakers, brands, manufacturers, and innovators to address critical challenges and drive collaborative action.
Among the standout sessions was the panel discussion titled โTracking Progress: Operationalising Circularity.โ Speaking at the session, Krishna Manda, Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Lenzing, addressed the difficulties surrounding the scale-up of textile-to-textile recycling efforts.
โMany circularity pilots are indeed stuck and not scaling up,โ Manda noted. โThis is especially true for adoption of textile-to-textile chemically recycled fibers. Without clear demand and acceptance of fibers with lower recycled content (10โ20%), these pilots cannot scale to widespread adoption in the industry.โ

Lenzing is taking proactive steps to address this gap through its ECOVEROโข x REFIBRAโข viscose fibers, which contain 20% recycled content sourced from both pre- and post-consumer cotton textile waste. The company has outlined a strategic roadmap to increase the recycled content in its fibers, in alignment with rising industry interest and evolving regulatory frameworks.

As the fashion industry faces mounting pressure to reduce environmental impact and transition to circular models, the summit reinforced the urgency for unified, cross-sector action. Lenzingโs participation highlighted the importance of not only innovation but also policy support and supply chain readiness to bring scalable solutions to life.
The 2025 edition of the Global Fashion Summit once again served as a platform for critical dialogue, knowledge exchange, and a shared vision for a more sustainable future in fashion.
