Barnet and Carbon Fiber Conversions partner to expand market for recycled carbon fibers

Barnet and Carbon Fiber Conversions (CFC) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at expanding the global market for recycled carbon fibers in plastics. The collaboration brings together Barnet’s long-standing presence in the global fiber market and CFC’s specialized expertise in carbon fiber recycling and processing.
Carbon Fiber Conversions, a technology-focused company founded more than a decade ago, has built a strong reputation for developing reliable methods to prepare and process recycled carbon fibers. Through this partnership, the company will contribute its technical knowledge and processing capabilities to support the wider adoption of recycled carbon fibers in high-performance plastic applications.
Barnet, which has more than 125 years of experience in the international fiber market, will complement CFC’s technical expertise with its extensive global sales network and market reach. The company aims to help bring CarboFlow, CFC’s recycled carbon fiber product to a broader range of industries and customers worldwide.
CarboFlow is a 100 percent recycled carbon fiber designed to reinforce thermoplastic compounds. The material is engineered to provide controlled properties and consistent performance, making it suitable for industrial production environments. Since its introduction, more than 5,000 tons of CarboFlow have already been supplied for series production applications, indicating growing industrial demand and confidence in the material’s performance.
With the addition of CarboFlow, Barnet expands its portfolio with a sustainable solution alongside its existing high-performance carbon fiber products. The material offers manufacturers a way to improve the strength and durability of thermoplastic compounds while supporting circular material use.
CFC has also developed processing methods that make recycled carbon fibers suitable for gravimetric feeding systems commonly used in high-performance plastics manufacturing. This capability allows manufacturers to integrate recycled carbon fibers into existing production processes more efficiently.
Dr. Marcel Sittel-Faraj, founder of Carbon Fiber Conversions, said the partnership creates new opportunities for growth. “By combining our technical expertise with Barnet’s global sales strength, we are creating a strong platform for growth and innovation,” he noted.
Barnet also highlighted the strategic value of the collaboration. Jan Druve, Category Manager Carbon at Barnet, said the partnership aligns with the company’s efforts to expand its activities in carbon fiber recycling. “CFC’s products and technical expertise are the perfect fit to expand our current efforts in recycling carbon fibers. Together, we can tap into new markets and offer our customers worldwide efficient and sustainable solutions,” he said.
As industries continue to explore ways to reduce material waste and improve resource efficiency, recycled carbon fibers are gaining attention as a practical option for reinforcing plastics without relying solely on virgin materials. Through this partnership, Barnet and Carbon Fiber Conversions aim to accelerate the adoption of recycled carbon fibers across a range of manufacturing sectors while supporting more sustainable material solutions.
