Barmag introduces new 6020 ceramic oiler for improved PA6 and PA6.6 low-titer yarn production

Barmag has expanded its portfolio for PA6 and PA6.6 filament yarn production with the launch of the 6020 ceramic oiler, a solution developed for low-titer applications ranging from 5 to 100 denier. The new ceramic oiler is also available as a retrofit option, allowing existing production lines to benefit from improved yarn quality and process stability without major equipment modifications.

The 6020 ceramic oiler has been designed to support stable production while reducing common processing challenges associated with fine denier yarns. One of its key design features is a filament-friendly yarn inlet, where the yarn is fully saturated with spinfinish oil before it touches the ceramic surface. This helps minimise fluff formation and protects delicate filaments during processing.

The ceramic oiler also features a three-wave geometry that reduces yarn contact, allowing smoother yarn movement. Unlike conventional designs that use glued metal shafts, the 6020 integrates the ceramic shaft directly into the component. This design removes potential failure points such as blocked oil channels or detached ceramic parts, helping manufacturers maintain consistent production over longer operating periods.

Optimised yarn guidance works together with the ceramic design to deliver a more even spinfinish application. The result is a high oil pick-up (OPU), low oil content variation (OCV), and minimal spray-off, which are all essential for producing uniform, high-quality yarn.

Better process control and cleaner production

The new ceramic oiler offers several practical advantages for manufacturers processing PA6 and PA6.6 yarns.

Stable spinfinish application improves yarn consistency while reducing yarn breaks and loop formation during production. The lower level of spray-off also helps minimise oil contamination in quench and winding areas, creating a cleaner production environment and reducing material losses.

The design also focuses on operator convenience. A clearly visible and easily accessible thread guide simplifies yarn threading, while precise adjustment options allow faster machine setup and easier operation during production.

Customer trials show positive results

Field trials with international customers have demonstrated promising performance under production conditions.

During tests with PA6 and PA6.6 POY yarns, manufacturers achieved spray-off-free processing along with more consistent yarn tension. Compared with standard oiling systems, the 6020 ceramic oiler increased the spinfinish application rate by approximately 23%.

The ceramic oiler was also evaluated with PET POY full dull and challenging flat yarn applications. In direct comparisons involving several supplier solutions, the 6020 was the only nozzle that maintained stable operation without loop formation or broken filaments (BF).

These production results indicate that the new ceramic oiler can improve yarn quality while supporting more reliable manufacturing performance across demanding low-titer applications.

Retrofit option for existing lines

Alongside new installations, the 6020 ceramic oiler is available as a retrofit solution, enabling filament producers to upgrade existing spinning positions without replacing complete systems.

By combining an integrated ceramic shaft, optimised yarn guidance and uniform spinfinish application, the 6020 ceramic oiler offers manufacturers a practical solution for improving yarn quality, reducing process interruptions and increasing production efficiency in PA6, PA6.6 and selected PET filament applications.
